 Donya Al-Mously

Project: About Me
January 2001

Hi my name is Donya-Almously. I am a tenth grade student at the American Community School in Beirut, Lebanon. I am half Saudi Arabian and half Iranian but I live in Lebanon…isn’t that weird. Let me tell you a bit about myself. I like to do a lot of things in my spare time. I like sports, art, writing, and reading. But my passion is for music and dancing. I don’t have a favorite band or favorite type of music. I can listen to anything and everything that attracts my attention. I love to dance! By dancing I express a part of myself. The rhythm of the music is like the voice of my soul; I can feel it and I can move with it. Another thing that I tend to do is to express my strongest thoughts and personal feelings through poetry. I love writing poetry, it helps me say the things that people don’t understand and it gives me a chance to let everything out, rather than having it build up inside.
I also love traveling. My parents have taken my sisters and I to so many places around the world that many people don’t get to go to in their entire lifetime. And I thank my parents very much for that. I want to travel to everywhere in the world. I want to learn more about other cultures and other lifestyles…I want to see everything and I want to experience a lot, whether it is good or bad experience. I want my life to be exciting and I want to learn something new every day about life and about myself. I don’t want to waste time. I want to live life as if today was my last day on earth. But at the moment I am not able to do many of the things I want to do because I am still under my parents’ roof and there still are rules that I have to follow and except. But one day I’ll be able to do the things I want to do. My goal for now is to concentrate on my studies because that is the first step I need to be able to become independent and once I have that, I could have everything. Remember the mind is most powerful thing.

This is something I wrote:

ALWAYS REMEMBER THE MEMORIES

Memories...you can't live with them and you can't live without them. They are your past your present and your future. You can't have any say in what your memories were and are going to be. It is very important to cherish moments so that they could become your memories forever and will always be in your heart. Memories are based on the way you feel at that moment for it to be in your mind and in your heart forever. There are memories that are so wonderful and loving that you never want to forget, but there are memories that are so sad and tragic that you never can forget. Some memories give you joy while other memories give you pane. Memories are things to look forward to and things to regret...but without these memories there is nothing to you but the future. And there comes a time where the past is very important to you and without these memories you have no past therefore you have no future. To live your future you must live your past and your past is the memories. Never forget the past and never forget the memories whether they are good or bad because without them you have everything of nothing.
